The beginning of our Journey of a Lifetime was not without incident! How boring would the trip be if it went smoothly? Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that because I have yet to have a trip go completely perfect. But that's ok - those little hiccups are just part of what makes the trip memorable.
This time, our first hiccup began before we could even take off! The plane had a problem with the breaks, so our flight was delayed for 2 hours! On the plus side, we were able to upgrade our seats to economy plus which gave us a little more room.
I have to say, Dave and I were very proud of ourselves because we each brought only 1 carry-on suit case and a backpack (well, mine was really a large camera bag). We learned from our first trip together to Europe on our honeymoon - we were young and dumb and brought 5 suit cases and a large video camera (remember how big they were back in the 90s?).
So, the itinerary is as follows:
Oct. 18-22 -- England (mostly the countryside)
Oct. 22-24 -- Paris
Oct. 24-Nov. 6 -- Italy
Now - there are two things that Dave and I are excited about - ok well, maybe I'm really the only one excited about it (lol):
First - I decided to bring a little piece of the farm with us - our cute Little Red Hen! No not this one
This one:
She's traveling around with us and having a good time. We needed to bring a little Shady Creek along for the ride :) I've created a Facebook Page for her so she can have her own blog.
The second thing I am excited about is doing some Geocaching while we are on the trip. "What is Geocahing" you ask? In short it's very much like a treasure hunt. People hide things all over the world and leave clues where to find them Some are really big and some are really small. There are many details I'm leaving out, but that will have to be for another post. In the meantime, here is a link for more information.
So off we go. Hope you can keep up!
